I’m generally not a comic book person, though I have enjoyed several graphic novels including Head Lopper, Demon, and The Hedge Knight. As a result, The Court of Owls is the first Batman comic I can recall having ever read. I’ve seen the deluxe edition (with mask) at Barnes & Noble booksellers and heard whispers of it mentioned on Reddit. As a result, I had fairly high expectations for this… series? Set? Collection of issues?
Overall I found the story interesting and I very much enjoyed the art-style; I’d be interested in seeing more from Greg Capullo. That being said, the story appears to have just… stopped at what feels like the 2/3 mark, and as far as I can tell that’s where it will stay. I’m not sure if this is common in comic books (perhaps to allow for personal interpretation? Or to allow for another author to come along and add to it?). I think the story filled the non-standard style that I find appealing, but the lack of closure kinda killed it for me.
